John 1:6–13

John the Baptist understood why God had sent him. He was not the Light, but he was called to bear witness to the Light so that others might believe. His life and ministry consistently pointed beyond himself to Jesus Christ.

That same calling belongs to us. God calls ordinary men and women to carry the extraordinary message of the gospel. He gives us the mission, gives us the message, and equips us to share what Christ has done.

Being a witness is more than what we say. Our witness is also seen in how we live, how we respond to challenges, and whether our lives point people toward Jesus. John summarized his purpose simply: “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

May we know God’s purpose for our lives, submit to His will, seek Him when doubts come, remain faithful when challenged, and continually examine whether our lives are pointing others to Christ.

We have received the good news. Now we have the privilege and responsibility of sharing it.

The sermon specifically connects John’s God-given mission with our calling to be messengers entrusted with the gospel.
