In Joshua 5 and 6, Israel stands before Jericho, a fortified city that seemed impossible to overcome. Jericho was not just a city; it was a stronghold standing between God’s people and God’s promise. But before Joshua received the battle plan, he encountered the Commander of the Lord’s army. The question was not whether the Lord was on Joshua’s side. The question was whether Joshua was on the Lord’s side.
That truth still speaks to us today. Every believer faces strongholds, whether financial, physical, emotional, spiritual, relational, or personal. Like Jericho, they can look too strong, too high, and too impossible to overcome. But God’s victory does not come through human strategy, strength, or control. It comes through surrender, obedience, faith, and praise.
Israel was told to stand, walk, wait, and finally shout. They praised before the walls came down, not after. Their shout was not based on what they could see, but on what God had already said. The walls fell because God kept His promise. Whatever stronghold stands before us, we can trust that the battle belongs to the Lord, and when God fights the battle, walls fall.
