Better Things, Part 1 | Hebrews 7:1–10

Throughout the book of Hebrews, one truth continues to stand out: Jesus is better!

In Hebrews 7:1–10, we are introduced to Melchizedek, a mysterious Old Testament king and priest whose life points us toward the greatness of Jesus Christ.

Melchizedek was both a king and a priest, representing righteousness and peace. Yet he was only a picture of the One who was to come. Jesus is our perfect King and eternal High Priest, the only One who can bring us into a right relationship with God.

Unlike the earthly priests who served for a time and eventually died, Jesus lives forever. His priesthood never ends, His sacrifice is complete, and He continually intercedes for those who belong to Him.

This passage reminds us that religious traditions, family heritage, and personal accomplishments cannot save us. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

The most important question is not where we came from or what we have accomplished, but whether we belong to Christ.

Jesus is greater than every earthly priest, and because He lives forever, we have eternal hope!
