Denial keeps us stuck, but honesty opens the door to healing. In this first Celebrate Recovery lesson, we explore Principle 1 and Step 1, admitting that we are powerless to control our hurts, habits, and hang ups and that our lives have become unmanageable. Using Scripture and real life examples, this lesson explains how denial hides the truth, drains our energy, blocks growth, isolates us from God and others, and ultimately lengthens our pain.

Through biblical stories like Adam and Eve and King David, we see that denial is not new, but neither is God’s grace. Recovery begins when we stop pretending, remove the mask, and step into the light of truth. When we admit our need for God and others, Jesus meets us with forgiveness, freedom, and a new beginning. This lesson is an invitation to stop running, stop hiding, and start healing.
