In 2 Samuel 9, King David sought out Mephibosheth, the forgotten and crippled son of Jonathan, living in Lo-Debar. From the world’s perspective, Mephibosheth was defined by his condition, his losses, and his location. Yet David saw him differently. He extended grace, restored his inheritance, and gave him a permanent place at the king’s table.

This powerful account reminds us that God does not define us by our failures, wounds, or circumstances. Throughout Scripture, God called people out of low places. Lot left Sodom, Moses left Midian, Israel left Egypt, David left Bethlehem, and Mephibosheth left Lo-Debar. In every case, God saw more than their present situation. He saw His purpose for their lives.

Perhaps you feel forgotten, overlooked, or stuck in a place that does not reflect God’s promises. The good news is that the King knows exactly where you are. Just as David sought Mephibosheth, God seeks us through Jesus Christ. His grace not only brings us out of Lo-Debar, it brings us to the King’s table.

The question is not whether God is calling. The question is whether we are willing to come out and trust who He says we are.
