Hebrews 6:13-20
When the storms of life come, our hope needs to be anchored to something stronger than our circumstances. Hebrews 6 reminds us that our hope is “an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast.”
The strength of an anchor is determined by what it is attached to. Our anchor is not secured to our feelings, circumstances, finances, relationships, or our ability to understand what God is doing. Our anchor is secured in the presence of God, where Jesus has already entered for us.
Through the stories of Elisha, Rahab, Joseph, Moses, and the Old Testament high priest, we are reminded that God is working even when we cannot see Him. There is more happening than what appears on the surface. God protects, provides, gives peace, and extends His favor because Jesus is our eternal High Priest who stands in God’s presence for us.
We may not always see the anchor, but we know where it is. We may not understand what God is doing, but we know who is there.
Because Jesus is on the inside, our hope is sure and stedfast.
